Last week I was lucky enough to attend the private view of Sculpt at Kew. The Handmade in Britain team have curated a cracking show; with artists from all backgrounds, disciplines and using many different materials.
Here are a few photos I took when I visited. Click on the images containing sculptures to go to the respective artists' websites:
It's a huge exhibition, spread throughout the gorgeous grounds of Kew Gardens. It was quite exciting to explore the different areas and terrains, discovering the sculptures in unexpected places. My favourite piece was Druids by Mallon Foundry; an imposing and striking pair of iron figures which brought to mind Richard Serra and the Handmaids' Tale!
The exhibition is included in the price of entry to the gardens, so it's an absolute bargain. You really could spend all day there!
On at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew now until 15 October
see www.handmadeinbritain.co.uk/shows/sculpt/exhibitors/ for details of all the exhibitors
and see www.kew.org/kew-gardens/whats-on/sculpt-at-kew for more details including buying tickets and how to get there.
And if you like that, you'll love HANDMADE AT KEW at which I'm exhibiting in a few weeks time!
