I’m very excited to be exhibiting at international trade fair NY NOW, which opens in New York, USA next Sunday 3rd February. It’s something I’d wanted to do for a while now, so when I saw this tweet, I jumped at the chance. After filling in lots of application forms and crossing lots of fingers, I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of only 12 participants in this new initiative: a partnership between Craft Scotland and the Department for International Trade (DIT), to showcase 12 of Britain’s most talented makers to trade buyers in New York from 3 - 6 February 2019. The resulting showcase is a snapshot of some of Britain’s finest makers including eight Scotland-based makers amongst the 12 strong UK line up.
Featuring leading contemporary craft talent in textiles, ceramics, jewellery and more the makers showcased have been selected by an expert industry panel featuring Alison Garafalo (Sales Director, Handmade Designer Maker, NY NOW), Norma Foster (Director, I-Can Global) and Jo Scott (Project Manager, Craft Scotland).
Indeed I’ll be in excellent company, exhibiting alongside these talented designers, makers & craftsmen (click through to their websites to discover more of their work):
NY NOW, a four-day wholesale event, is widely regarded as the leading fair in the United States for contemporary design across home, lifestyle, handmade and gift products. The 12 makers will exhibit and sell their work within the Handmade Designer Maker section of the show.
