We’re halfway through JUST A CARD’s Indie Week and today I’m giving you some lovely textiles related shopping suggestions for your consideration. If you were thinking of giving a blanket, scarf, purse, cushion, fashion or textile art piece for Christmas, please support these or other SMALL businesses, instead of resorting to the high street or (god forbid) amazon / asos etc.. In return you’ll be smug in the knowledge that what you’ve purchased has been ethically and sustainably produced and that you are contributing to keeping creative small businesses alive.
So many beautiful textiles can be found out there! Here’s a little selection of useful and beautiful things including woven, knitted, crocheted, printed and hand painted textiles, covering categories of accessories, art, homewares and fashion.
Useful little purses and pouches with modernist prints by JENNIE JACKSON.
Stunning hand woven throw by ARRA TEXTILES.
Incredibly detailed, hand-knitted butterfly wall art by MAX’S WORLD.
Limited edition woven Pylon throw by SALLY WEATHERILL.
Unique crocheted robin artwork by JOSE HEROYS.
Beautiful hand woven hot water bottle cover by SARAH TYSSEN.
Intricate but cosy hand knitted Hackney Handwarmers (fingerless mitts) by CHELACHE.
Hand painted wearable works of art / bespoke fashion by CAROLE WALLER.
Gorgeous Teepee pattern knitted throw / blanket by ROSE BROWN.
Clicking on the images above will link you to the shops where you can buy from and support these small businesses. I’m in no way affiliated with or paid by any of them*; I just enjoy sharing cool things with others and spreading the love
(*except CHELACHE, which obviously is me! I’ve snuck one of my own products into today’s offering)..
This is just a tiny selection of the amazing stuff made by awesome people (not huge corporations) that you can find out there.
If you have any other recommendations or suggestions, feel free to comment below. And of course do share this blog post! The more people we get on board with the JUST A CARD mentality the better!
“Every sale, however small,
is the difference between a vibrant creative community or a boarded
up business.”
